We applied to a few rescues looking for a large dog to be my ESA. I didn't get an answer back from any of them probably because we live in an apartment and I have a tiny Chihuahua. The staff at the SPCA are friendly, the facility is clean and all of the animals are well cared for. The adoption process was thorough but not super difficult. The big boy in the picture is coming home with me in a couple weeks!

Very small office and very smelly is my initial impression. No employee/volunteers wearing masks. CDC recommended 6 feet spacing was impossible. Looking for a small dog. There were approximately 10 dogs in another small room. Again, 6 foot spacing not possible. The best looking small dogs had “adopted” tags on the cage already. One long haired dog needed grooming badly. Another old dog looked like they were teetering on death’s edge. Not Covid safe and a waste of time to drop in. I recommend calling and get all info first. Do not arbitrarily drop in. Four parking spots. No handicapped. Only other place to park was a ditch.

We got are dog there when I was 5 I am 10 now we got a dog named Bella she is 14 now she is really sweet

If I could give negative stars I would. Our family had gone in there a week ago and found a small dog we all fell in love with. They stated they had to put him on the website for a week incase the owner showed up, but they would call us Saturday to let us know either way (if he was ours or if the owner came). They did not put him on there till 6 days later then claimed he was “adopted”. When we came in to fill out our adoption papers since they did NOT call us, the guy walked off and never would tell us what happened to the puppy. They were unprofessional and unorganized.

So difficult to actually adopt a dog from SPCA unless you have “connections.” They just let someone else adopt a dog out from under my friends, even though they had already applied.

We found a little dog in five minutes. It's the sweetest dog ever and she took to us right away. The fee is very reasonable. We have to wait until July 22nd, as she has to have a chip and spay surgery. I'll go visit her when I can, until then. The people who manage the SPCA are very nice.
